No dia 25 de dezembro o mundo será presenteado com uma caixa de Pandora sombria e ultrajante: o novo full album de Semdó, projeto de horrorcore 100% nacional. Acontece que antes de dirigir todo seu ódio contra a humanidade, Semdó teve uma interessante fase DSBM, com letras misantrópicas, melodias macabras e mesmo um tom atmosférico glacial – além de umas dissonâncias lo-fi de arrepiar. No começo de 2016, como uma espécie de despedida, o artista colocou toda a obra do Lado Oculto para download gratuito – e com o objetivo de contextualizar um pouco esta produção, o Gabinete Musical teve uma longa conversa com o jovem que está aterrorizando a população brasileira.

GM: Qual sua idade atual???
Semdó: Tenho 18.

GM: Sério? Meu, vocês, jovens, são muito talentosos! Com 18 eu nem saía de casa…
Semdó: Sim hahaha geralmente as pessoas acham que eu sou bem mais velho. Fui meio precoce nessa parada de começar a produzir as coisas.

GM: Estou aqui, diante de sua antiga produção, e se eu tivesse que chutar, diria que seu primeiro lançamento foi o que tem um nome difícil, talvez finlandês?
Semdó: Minha primeira produção? Na verdade não, minha primeira produção foi o álbum Eterno Ciclo Suicida; o Vare Sjeler, pelo contrário, foi a ultima produção do Lado Oculto.

GM: Certo. Qual era sua idade???
Semdó: Na época eu devia ter entre uns 14/15 anos.

GM: E como se deu a produção do álbum? O que você tinha em mente, quais eram seus recursos?
Semdó: Antes desse álbum eu já havia produzido algumas coisas que não foram lançadas, à principio surgiu a ideia como uma necessidade de ter algo produzido pelas minhas próprias mãos, foi assim que surgiu este primeiro álbum. Eu queria expressar aqueles sentimentos e ideias e, de alguma maneira, fazer as pessoas ficarem chocadas. Os recursos eram literalmente muito baixos, eu gravei esse álbum com o microfone de uma webcam hahahaha.

GM: Sim, dá para notar que era bem lo-fi. Você fez tudo sozinho???

Conversation with slovenian black metal project Noč

When I started my conversations with Jan, the body and soul of experimental black metal project Noč, it was the most ‘underground’ musical initiative that I ever talked to. In february  Noč had three demos, at Bandcamp, and no FB page. It was something like a secret, a treasure lost in the web. Demo III, the album that captivated my attention with a very interesting and mysterious artwork, had a physical private pressing of 20 copies that Jan would give for free ‘face to face’, a signal that he was not hoping to break the limits of his country  – and was a great surprise to know that the copies were not sold out! We talked for three months and in this meanwhile Noč released two other ‘demos’ and reactivated his FB page – which shows how dinamic could be the intimate life of an artist.

GM: What’s your age?
Jan – I am 19 years old.

GM: How do you describe your sonority?
Jan – If by “sonority” you mean my music, my sound, I’d say I always strive to create something honest and true to myself, through the music, and through the lyrics.

GM: What’s the meaning of ‘Noč’? is there any story behind the choice of this title?
Jan – It’s the Slovene word for night.

GM: I know that ‘genres’ could be a little limitated, but how would you describe your music in this field?
Jan – I guess I’d say black metal, with a lot of ambient passages and experimentation thrown in, and whatever else I feel like making.

GM: DSBM?
Jan – You could categorize it as DSBM, yes, but that wouldn’t be the first word I’d use to describe my music.

GM: What is your first musical memory? And when you started to enjoys music?
Jan – When I was a young child I remember my father playing his old vinyl of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon to me. That’s probably the first time when music really had a deep impact on me, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

GM: You released three demos (though I’ll easily would call then albuns) in 2015. When you started this project and how many time do you spent in each release? They are separated  and individual releases or they have some connection?
Jan – Well, making music, making an album, is a long process for me, and I’m always creating something. I don’t really know how much time I spend on an individual album, but it doesn’t really matter to me as long as the final product is something true to my “vision”. I like the chronological progression of Noč’s music as a body of work (Demo I, II, III, …), and although every album I record is meant to be able to stand on it’s own, yes, the albums are connected in many ways, most of which aren’t very obvious to the listener though, at least not on a first glance.

GM: All your works were released in 2015, but I imagine that you should have started before this.
Jan – Well Noč’s Demo was released in January, so most of that was done before 2015, but the other two albums/Demos were written and released in 2015.

GM: Noč is your first musical project?
Jan – I’ve played in various bands before, but Noč is my main project, and the one I really pour my soul into. Continuar lendo →

Lançamentos de 2016 que podem merecer sua atenção

(jan,  fev e mar)

   Devo dizer que passei boa parte de janeiro ainda envolvido com os álbuns de 2015, entretido com as listas de fim de ano que mencionei no post #012 – e que até tentei, mas não tive cabeça para encontrar novidades em janeiro. Fevereiro começou bem devagar, devo dizer, mas as coisas finalmente esquentaram e comecei a procurar novidades como um louco – até perceber, em março, que talvez eu precise rever essa compulsão por música… seja como for, tenho algumas novidades bem interessantes para compartilhar.

Abismika – Ouça minha angústia

Não sei se estamos diante de um EP ou um single, mas este lançamento com apenas duas faixas vem trazer sangue novo ao DSBM nacional.

Aleska – s/t

Post-hardcore criativo e cheio de energia. A clássica alternância entre passagens mais lentas abrindo espaço para investidas ganchudas – uma fórmula e tanto!

Atsuko Chiba – Figure and grond

Não sei como definir isso, mas vale a audição. Post algo.

Bossk – Audio Noir

Apenas uma faixa está liberada, visto que o álbum será lançado em abril, mas este post-music/post-metal/shoegaze parece bem interessante.

Charles Bradley – Changes

O álbum só será lançado em abril, mas o single ‘Changes’ quebra tudo e anuncia um ótimo trablalho.

Daydream – Nostalgie

Daydream, o primeiro projeto a aparecer neste espaço, acaba de lançar seu segundo full – agora sediado na Bandcamp.

Ehnahre – Douve

Álbum experimental nas fronteiras entre o black metal, a música de vanguarda e um certo minimalismo em torno de uma temática mais adulta.

Gray Souvenirs – Serena

Novo full-lenght deste incrível projeto nacional de blackgaze. Altamente recomendado.

Heron Oblivion – Heron Oblivion

Sei que divulgar álbum de gravadora já consolidada, como a Sub Pop, pode parecer chover no molhado, mas este lançamento merece todo apoio. Psy indie rock com altas doses de Jefferson Airplane. Além do vocal cativante garanto que os solos de guitarra irão surpreender.

Invernium/Abisma – Personal coma [split album] (aqui a parte do Invernium, via Soundcloud – aqui a parte do Abisma, via BC)

Mais um lançamento de peso na cena DSBM nacional.

Left Alone – Empty moment

Sem dúvida o maior destaque da presente seleção, este título combina tons de jazz e blues ao DSBM de modo inimaginável.

Lumnos – Among the stars of ressurection

Projeto paralelo de Putrefactus, black metal atmosférico com toques épicos de altíssima qualidade. A segunda faixa é muito emocionante.

Nvblado – Água rosa

Screamo nacional enveredando por novos ambientes. Com certeza um dos melhores lançamentos do período.

Sad Jazz – I try to fight, but get high and give up [demos]

Projeto nacional ultra underground e muito recente. Qualquer pessoa que mencione Teen Suicide em uma música merece minha admiração.

Sanctus-I-Minus – Testament

Este artista de vanguarda compilou todos seus lançamentos anteriores neste único título. Entrevista em andamento, logo logo será postada por aqui!

Scorge & Juan Queiroz – Praeceptum DCLXVI [split] (escutar via YT)

Dois artistas bastante singulares em um lançamento (até agora apenas virtual) bem interessante. Enquanto Scorge alterna suas faixas entre um black metal mais atmosférico com sonoridades mais cruas e tradicionais, Juan Queiroz nos apresenta sua concepção psicodélica do black metal.

Piano solo – mas nada minimalista, algo entre o pop e o clássico. Vale 100% a audição.

Great Cold Emptiness

 

It’s hard to don’t get impressed with Elksworth, the very young mind behind Great Cold Emptiness. I met him as just another fan of music, in FB, and then I was introduced to his ‘creative world’. To give you an idea, during our conversations he released his second book, release a new album of A Perfect Day, his post-rock/post-metal project, and pre-released a compilation and a brand new GCE album – now not alone, but with a band! So, take a time to seat around a campfire and hear some news about this great atmospheric black metal project: Great Cold Emptiness!

GM: Fuck, I’m listening to Father Elk and it’so good!
Elksworth: Thanks dude!

GM: New release of GCE too… you’re a machine, man!
Elksworth: I am haha. Im 17 so i have lots of freetime.

GM: Free time is not the point, do you have a criative urge wich is admirable!
Elksworth: Thanks man  🙂
But I didn’t like the result of Father Elk.

GM: Really? Why?
Elksworth: idk really. it just wasn’t me. I much prefer what I’m doing now.

GM: You have seventeen but works a lot – released various music titles and are about to publish your second book. Thath is something very admirable – how it is possible????
Elksworth: Hahah, well I’ve been creating music since I was 12, and I have over the years evolved myself to new genres and styles, and completely immersed myself in the aesthetics of them. Writing and Music are the two most natural things to me, and thus, It is expressed with my creative outpost.

GM: Well, to the the past now: can you share with us your first musical memory?
Then, what was your age when you started to enjoy music in a conscient level – and, if possible, tell us what was the first record you bougth.
Elksworth: My first musical memory was when I was I started to really enjoy Progressive Rock and Electronic music. The first album I bought was Rush’s Test for Echo.

Entrevista com o projeto nacional de blackgaze GRAY SOUVENIRS

 

GRAY SOUVENIRS é um projeto nacional de blackgaze que pode facilmente adentrar a galeria de imortais do gênero. Ele não apenas tem um sonoridade incrível, com guitarras pesadas atacando belíssimas linhas de teclado, como tem ainda vocais poderosos, intensos momentos melódicos e mudanças de tempo bastante interessantes. Em menos de um ano GRAY SOUVENIRS já conta com três lançamentos (além de um faixa avulsa muito especial) que mostram um crescimento significativo e apresenta todos os sinais de uma música que está aqui para ficar!

Putrefactus, o jovem homem por trás desta verdadeira parede sonora, foi muito receptivo e amável durante nossos conversas via FB. Nós conversamos sobre seus projetos paralelos, seu processo criativo e também sobre o futuro do projeto. Mais importante: ele nos permitiu conhecer, em primeira mão, a arte e, com exclusividade, o primeiro single de seu próximo lançamento, o álbum Serena.

Putrefactus: A Gray Souvenirs surgiu quando eu ganhei minha primeira guitarra como presente de aniversário, então pode-se dizer que ela nasceu no mesmo dia do meu aniversário, 4 de fevereiro – só que de 2015. Na sua primeira formação a banda contou com a participação de Skymning (guitarras base) que após o lançamento de Ventos da Transcendência veio a deixar o projeto. Primeiramente, tinha em mente fazer um som mais voltado pro blackgaze/DSBM, porém com o passar do tempo as composições tenderam mais pro lado blackgaze, shogeaze e post-black metal com influências fortes de Alcest, Amesoeurs, Les Discrets, Lantlôs, Shyy e …(DotDotDot).

GM: Vc teve algum projeto musical antes disso?
Putrefactus: Sim, chamava-se Putrefolah, era um depressive rock inspirando em Apati, Happy Days entre outros.

GM: Este projeto tinha interação física ou era apenas virtual? Ele rolou de quando a quando?
Putrefactus: Era virtual, teve apenas um lançamento chamado Fade Way Forever e durou de junho de 2014 até fevereiro de 2015, quando comecei tinha 16 anos.

GM: Por favor, conte um pouco sobre a formação do seu gosto musical.
Putrefactus: Desde criança nunca me contentei com as musicas que me eram apresentadas, sempre procurava outras, fui apresentado ao rock por amigos de colégio aos 9 anos ouvia Gun’s N’ Roses, Deep Purple, Bee Gees e outros artistas. Porém quando fui ficando mais velho fui descendo os degraus, se é que você me entende. Passei a ouvir new metal aos meus 10/13 anos, bandas como System of a Down, Korn, Slipknot. Através da internet conheci bandas novas e fui me inclinando pro lado do power metal e symphonic black metal, onde passei a ouvir Rhapsody Of Fire, Angra, Shaman, Sonata Artica e através dessas conheci as primeiras bandas de black metal, que amo até hoje, Dimmu Borgir e Cradle Of Filth, daí foi uma estrada mágica até o post-black metal/shoegaze, gêneros que mais ouço hoje e entre os quais se encontram minhas bandas favoritas: Alcest, Deafheaven, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine.

Então eu fiz uma pausa e escutei algumas faixas avulsas de Putrefolah no YT.

GM: Pelo que pesquisei, o álbum do Putrefolah não foi lançado oficialmente, certo?
Putrefactus: Exatamente. Acho que não tinha qualidade suficiente, apesar de ter sido feito com bastante zelo.

I don’t remember exactly how I get to this project – but it makes my head since the first hearing, with a singular mix of DSBM with shoegazer. It was not only great – was prolific too: in his Bancamp page I found 4 titles, all released this year. To talk with Lamond, the young one man behind everything, was a very special experience – a truly gentlemen’s talk, as you’ll se in the next lines.

[post 10] Voices from the underground – interview with atmospheric BM project ‘Talv’

I’ve met the project Talv wandering through YT and I do not think twice before buying a copy of his last album, Üksildus [post #005] – wich means ‘isolation’, in estonian language. And how I know that? Well, I took a great dose of courage and was very well received by Andrea Talv, the man behind the project, whose anonymity I was a lil afraid to disturb. He lives near Milano, at Italy, and we talk for many days, little by little, about his music. To this very special interview, he gently gifted us with some unpublished images!

GM: Well, let the show begin!
Before Talv there was Trees in The Fog. For how long? And why he gave way to the current project?

 

Talv: Yes, the project started as Trees in the Fog, there was also a logo and some songs ready for a demo, but before the publication, I decided to change the name with a more effective one. Talv means Winter in estonian language.
‘Trees in the Fog’ was from the end of 2011 to the end of 2012.

GM: And what about the meaning of the title of the first album, My soul is a velvet glove?

Talv: My Soul is a Velvet Glove is nothing more than a demo, and a really unpolished work, but at the same time very important for my evolution. About the meaning of the title: it comes to my mind really suddenly, without premeditation. I thought about the fact that Talv’s music is like a poetic thing trapped in a total sense of desolation.
